The Satang Island Tour offers a unique opportunity to explore Sarawak’s coastal and marine wonders. Starting with a scenic drive from Kuching to the Santubong or Damai area, guests board a small boat for a cruise along the Salak River, where the elusive Irrawaddy dolphins can often be spotted. The journey includes a stop near Bird Island to observe seabirds before heading to Satang Island in the South China Sea.
Satang Island, part of the Satang National Park, houses a turtle conservation project where visitors can learn about efforts to protect endangered Green and Hawksbill Turtles. Guests can visit the hatchery, relax on the island’s pristine white sandy beaches, or snorkel in the crystal-clear waters to enjoy vibrant corals and marine life.
The tour includes a packed lunch and refreshments. It concludes with a return journey to Kuching, arriving at the hotel by mid-afternoon. Note that the tour is unavailable from November to March due to the monsoon season, and sun protection is recommended for the trip.

The Experience
- Drive from Kuching for about 45 minutes in the direction of Santubong area
- Board a small boat (12 capacity of passengers) and begin your cruise to the mouth of the Salak River
- You should be able to spot the elusive and rare schools of Irrawaddy dolphins which are quite common in this area
- The boatman will stop nearby Bird Island to see the sea birds before proceed to Satang Island
- Head out to the South China Sea for Satang Island. The island is part of the Satang National Park where a turtle conservation project is located on the island
- Green Turtles and the rare Hawksbill Turtles often lay their eggs here. Look in on the hatchery to get an idea of conservation work being carried out on these highly endangered sea creatures
- A packed lunch and refreshments will be provided during the tour
- Spend time on the island's white sandy beach or go snorkelling. You will be able to enjoy the corals and the marine life in the crystalline waters off the island
